Jean Grolier (1479-1565) was among history’s most discerning collectors of beautiful books and the first to develop a unique ornamental style of designs, preferring to follow the design principles of his Italian friend Aldus Manutius, the greatest printer of the Renaissance. At the time of his death, Grolier owned one of the greatest and most extensive private libraries in the world and his binding designs to become the most emulated worldwide. If anyone deserves recognition and for their work to feature on a Paperblanks product, it is Jean Grolier (with the Signature Editions Format range not far behind).
